ola !! I am Paola, the professional artist specialized in pointed pen calligraphy, hand engraving, engrossing, illumination and illustration, owner of the Art Beneath my Wings Studio located in Boca Raton, Florida.
I do calligraphy on site and studio commissions for wedding invitation addressing, place cards, name tags, keepsake pieces such as marriage vows, prayers, personal letters, custom made commissions of quotes, resolutions, certificates, diplomas and more.
I also do illustrations, monogram design and digital calligraphy pieces. Last year I added to my services bottle painting.
For the engraving, I do commissions and on-site/live events to personalize a variety of items on glass and metal.
My background career is Graphic Design.
I graduated in Rome, Italy in 1989 at the "Istituto Europeo di Design".

My Story
I was born in Bogota, Colombia and grew up in Caracas, Venezuela. After graduating high school I moved to Rome, Italy to study my career of Graphic Design, where I had my first approach to calligraphy arts. After graduating
I stayed one more year working free lance and for a local photography art institute.
I returned to Venezuela and for the next three years I worked in developing
my career and also did some calligraphy work.
The arrival of technology and digital art in the mid 90s led me to pursue other career interests
because my style and preference are rooted in hand crafted work.
In the year 2000 I moved to the United States and made Florida my home.
But it was not until the year 2016 that I came across a calligraphy video in social media
and the passion for the hand made art exploded in me again.
Since then my purpose has been to learn and refine my calligraphy and related arts with fundaments and structure and make it my profession. I am self-taught and attended specialized calligraphic courses with two Master Penman and the most renowned worldwide calligraphers and industry professionals.
I became a member of the International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting (Iampeth) in 2020 and later that year I joined the South Florida Calligraphy Guild. I was granted in 2022 a Premium Artist Membership at Nibtique, the largest global network of calligraphers and engravers.
Languages and sports are other passions that I have pursued since a very young age,
I am fluent in English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese and used to be a scratch golfer
representing my country in international competitions for over 25 years !
I am happily married to the most supportive husband and I am proud mom of Maya our sweet Ragdoll cat!
